Thursday Senior Golf League
History
The Thursday Senior Golf League started in May of 1993. As the Tuesday group grew in size, it was decided by Bob Bruno to start another league to accommodate more players. Bill Kruger was asked to organize the Thursday league. With 13 golfer's from the Tuesday waiting list and 15 additional recruits, the new league was ready to begin.
Bruno and Kruger encouraged competition and fellowship between the two leagues by organizing the Pill Box Tournament. This is an annual competition between the two leagues played each July.
Three flights based on handicaps compete each week from May to September at Mays Landing C C. Champions for each flight are announced at the end of the season followed by a year end banquet.
The Thursday league has grown to 68 players. They have provided a means for senior golfers over age 55 to enjoy companionship and competition with other golfers from the Ocean City area.
